“Prodigal Father” produced and directed by Robert Exley has won the CampusDoc award for Best International Documentary. Prodigal Father is a riveting film about a family of eight children growing up with a father in-and-out prison. Robert Exley studies at the J-School, CUNY Graduate School of Journalism.
Runner-up and 2nd place is “Shetland Bus” produced and directed by Rebecca Hannah Archer, a student at Manchester Metropolitan University MMU. The documentary tells the story of a secret WWII operation of the British Navy to support the Norwegian resistance movement. The documentary is based on excellent research and contains impressive archival footage of the operation.
“Ezakthi-Namasiko” produced and directed by Thingo Mthombeni & Catharina Andersen took 3rd place. Both are students of the School of Journalism and Media Studies, Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa. We follow South African Thingo, navigating a predominantly Western world that does not give much room for traditional African practices.
