There are many different marketing strategies to choose from, but the author argues that the biggest factor in the success of a marketing campaign is the amount of time spent on it. “The best marketing is a combination of your personal approach and the work of your staff.” This is the first time I’ve ever read this so I’m going to double point it. I’m not sure if this is the best marketing advice out there or just another marketing article. Either way, we all need to do a better job of it.

One of the best marketing techniques Ive seen is to know your audience and tailor your marketing to their needs. This means creating a “brand” and developing a “story” that will connect with the audience. This is where your marketing departments, designers, copywriters, etc. all help. It also means having good copywriters. These folks are the ones who create the content you should be promoting, which is the most important factor.

Here at HubSpot we believe that the best marketing is content marketing. It’s the best way for your company to stand out today. Whether its content, social media, or something else, the point you have a consistent message and brand across your marketing channels. While it might sound like a pain in the ass to create, it is in fact pretty simple.

So how do we do it? I’m glad you asked. As a HubSpot intern in my first marketing position, I tried to find the best writing job on the market. After a few months of searching, I realized that no one talked about marketing jobs. So I did what I do best. I researched. I read tons of blogs. I watched youtube videos. I talked to people who had just gotten out of marketing jobs to see what they thought.

Now I do the whole thing. I go to conferences about jobs in marketing to network with other marketing pros and ask about jobs. What are they looking for? What do they expect from their marketing job? What are they looking for in the future? What do they do on a regular basis? What do they do to make themselves successful in this job? I talk to people who went through this and they talk about it all day long.

This is a nice side benefit of working for a marketing company. You get to see what most marketing professionals miss out on. Marketing is so incredibly human and how we all react to our job can be so different from one person to the next. I can tell you from experience that if people really want to do marketing, they are far more likely to be interested in marketing jobs than they think.

I don’t believe that marketing jobs should be a lifestyle choice. They should be part of your job, and your day job is to manage your marketing and brand strategy. Marketing careers are typically a long-term, low-stress, high-pay, high-responsibility, high-status career.
