Doctor Who is a British science fiction television series that was created by Sydney Newman and developed by Canadian writer, producer, and director Sydney Newman. It’s the longest running sci-fi show in history! In this blog post we’ll take an inside look at Doctor Who and how it has been able to stay relevant for over 50 years. In 1963, BBC needed another show to keep up with its opposite ITV channel. They badly wanted Power Rangers or Pokemon but ended up going with what they had on hand: Quatermass And The Pit (1958), followed closely behind by An Unearthly Child (1963). This first episode of “Dr.Who” introduced audiences not just one character -The Doctor-, but also his companions, Susan Foreman and “grandfather” Ian Chesterton.
