A Thousand Percent is a documentary about Fred Pansa. Fred is a maroon from Suriname. His father is the chief of a small community, named Apiapaati, deep in the inland of Suriname. In addition to Fred, he has 24 other children. Fred is living a double life. He lives on Appiapaati and in the city of Paramaribo. From here he organizes tourist tours to the inland. His heart is with the inland, but he can’t live without the city. This documentary tells the story of a man who struggles between a life in the city and the inland.
