The smell of hopelessness

A documentary by Cariba Party

Rafts of seaweed have been invading the Caribbean for more than five years. Residents near beaches are exposed to a pernicious danger, from fumes that smell like rotten eggs, emitted by the decaying algae. An elderly woman, Virginie Mark, is trying to survive. Since 2011, the algae has never been removed in front of her house, which once looked like a paradise.
