Coyotes have been moving into the New York City area over the last few decades. Sighting in Manhattan reached an all-time high last spring, and pet attacks in in the suburbs outside the city have increased. In towns like Chappaqua, New York, anxiety and fear about coyotes has pitted neighbors against neighbors. Living With Coyotes looks at the community conflict in the town of Chappaqua and the frustrated efforts of one outsider—Frank Vincenti—to improve human-coyote interactions. It’s a portrait of small-town politics and a view into how human emotions are often projected onto the natural world.
