A documentary by Daphida Voordewind and Bram van der Giessen (Christelijke Hogeschool Ede, Ede, The Netherlands)
Jaap Oudman is a social worker in a communitarian organisation in the middle of the Red Light District. This community, Oudezijds 100, offers help in the form of a walk-in center and supported living for people who are in trouble and/or deal with social disadvantages. Oudezijds 100 tries to be a linchpin for people who need social help and a roof above their head, but can’t meet the strict requirements from the municipality.
Besides Jaap’s work for Oudezijds 100, Jaap also helps his neighbours in the Red Light District. This film displays what Jaap means to his environment and what his role as a social worker plays in that.
